Summer Youth Employment Program

Program Overview

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), made possible through grant funds from the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, provides youth with paid work experience and work-readiness training.  Throughout the summer, participants work at different project sites throughout Chenango County including, but not limited to, the Chenango County Fairgrounds, Chenango County Historical Society, Commerce Chenango, NYS Veterans' Home at Oxford and Chase Memorial Nursing Home.

Work Readiness

Each week the program has in-class trainings that feature dynamic guest speakers.  Participants learn resume writing, interviewing skills, professionalism in the workplace, employer expectations, financial literacy, and more.

Eligibility Guidelines

Participants must be Chenango County residents, TANF eligible and between 14-20 years of age.  The application process begins in mid-May.
