CHENANGO YOUTH PHILANTHROPY COUNCIL

About CYPC

The Chenango Youth Philanthropy Council (CYPC) is a county-wide youth engagement program that teaches junior and senior high school students about Chenango County and the needs of the community.  Participants become more aware of their surroundings and community, gain an understanding of volunteerism and the impact it has on society, and learn about fundraising and the ongoing challenges nonprofits face in the 21st century.

The Learning Process

Unadilla Valley, Norwich and Sherburne- Earlville high schools are the current council locations.

Council meetings take place every other week and the entire council meets several times a year in Norwich for dynamic group discussions.

Giving Back to Chenango County

Over the course of the year, the council transitions into a foundation where participants develop a request for proposal (RFP) process and make funding decisions about organizations they want to support in their community.  CYPC grant funds are made possible by the Community Foundation for South Central New York and through fundraising efforts by the Council.
